Frequently asked questions
How GEO measures your AI visibility, what the score means, and how plans work.
What is AI visibility?
AI visibility is whether AI engines like ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity mention, cite, or recommend your brand when someone asks a real buying question. As more people ask an AI instead of scrolling search results, being named in those answers is becoming as important as ranking on Google.
Is the scan really free?
Yes. You can run a scan of your brand's AI visibility without paying and without a credit card. You'll get a 0–100 score and a breakdown of where you stand across engines. Paid plans add depth — more questions, more frequent re-scans, competitor tracking, and history.
Which AI engines do you check?
We check the major consumer AI engines people actually use to make decisions, including ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity. We measure across multiple engines on purpose, because a brand can be recommended in one and invisible in another — you need to see all of them to get an honest picture.
How does the score work?
Your result is a single 0–100 score built from six diagnostic dimensions. Rather than one vague number, the dimensions show you where you're strong and where you're being left out, so you can see which fixes are likely to move the needle first.
What's the difference between a mention, a citation, and a recommendation?
These are three increasing depths of visibility. A mention means the engine names your brand somewhere in its answer. A citation means it points to your content as a source. A recommendation is the strongest signal — the engine actively suggests you as the answer. Moving up that ladder is the goal, and it's part of how we score you.
How often should I re-scan?
AI answers change as models get updated and as your competitors publish new content, so visibility isn't a one-time reading. Many teams re-scan monthly to track progress; if you're actively working on improvements, checking more often helps you see what's working. Paid plans make regular re-scans easy.
Do you store my data? What about privacy?
We only work with the information needed to run your scans and show your results — your brand, the questions we test, and the engine responses. We don't sell your data, and your results are private to your account. Agencies can keep each client's data separate.
What's the difference between the free and paid plans?
The free scan gives you a real read on where you stand today. Paid plans go deeper: more questions per scan, scheduled re-scans, competitor comparison, historical tracking, and features aimed at teams and agencies managing multiple brands. See the billing page for current plan details.
How does billing and cancellation work?
Paid plans are handled through our billing page, where you can upgrade, change, or cancel at any time. There's no long-term lock-in — if you cancel, you keep access through the end of your current period. Full details live on the billing page.
Can agencies use GEO for their clients?
Yes. GEO is built to be repeatable across accounts, so agencies can scan each client, report on where they stand across engines, and track progress over time — the same way you already report on search and paid channels. Client data stays separated by account.
Do I need to install anything or change my website?
No. There's nothing to install and no code to add to your site. GEO reads what the AI engines already say about your brand, so you can get your first scan and score without any setup.
Can you guarantee I'll show up in AI answers?
No honest tool can guarantee a spot in an AI answer — the engines decide what to say. What GEO does is show you exactly where you stand today, how you compare to competitors, and which improvements are most likely to help you appear more often and more favorably over time.
